LANDSCAPE

Just 11 miles south of downtown Austin, Ranch OCOSA is bordered by Onion Creek, Dowell Ranch Preserve, and Austin’s Old San Antonio Park and Greenbelt.  Onion Creek drainage basin, second largest in Austin next to the Colorado River, remains as a riparian corridor with abundant wildlife observations as Austin continues to grow. With sprawling development in the upper reaches of the Onion Creek basin, the environmental stewardship of this scenic waterway is paramount. The meandering geometry of the creek, limestone bedrock, water clarity, and mature cypress trees leaves an impressionable feeling on each creek-side trail walk. Local art exhibited incorporates the landscapes and serves as a lasting memory of the versatility of central Texas lands. The same lands used by our neighbor Dowell Ranch for raising goats, cattle, and horses over the last 50 years.

RECREATION

Fishing, canoeing, trail hikes, bicycling, and swimming are common to the south Austin area.  Austin culture embraces and expects recreational amenities for all.  Recreate at Ranch OCOSA or take a short drive to southwest Travis County for the Violet Crown Trail, Mary Moore Searite Metropolitan Park, McKinney Falls, and Veloway Bikeway.
